Scout projects boost park

Boy Scout Elijah Vickers recently completed a sign frame for the boat launch at Haller Park in Arlington as an Eagle Scout Project. The sign was fabricated from lumber from an Arlington fir tree. Vickers supervised his fellow Scouts in the construction and installation of the sign. Information about the environment in the Stillaguamish River Valley will be posted on the sign.

Girl Scouts Matilda Haskins and Abbey Fairbanks recently completed a project for their Silver Award. The Scouts had contacted the city with an idea of installing a Little Free Library. Haller Park was chosen as a location, and the library was installed in the covered picnic shelter. The cabinet is now stocked by the two Scouts with reading material for all ages.

Fashion show raises $8,000 for children

Guild C of Providence General Children’s Association hosted a “Fashion with Compassion” fundraiser Sept. 29 at the Everett Golf &Country Club. The event included a luncheon, fall fashion show and silent auction. Women’s wear was provided by Burkett’s Savvy Clothing in Everett and children’s fashions were from BeeBops and Lollipops in Snohomish.

The nonprofit Providence General Children’s Association aims to promote and contribute to the health care needs of children in the Northwest.

Golf tourney raises $12K for various causes

The South Everett-Mukilteo Rotary Club raised more than $12,000 at its recent golf tournament. Proceeds benefit the Larry Busch Foundation, YMCA Casino Road Community Center and the Casino Road Boys &Girls Club.

Event activities also allowed for Kamiak High School golfers to take a shot at challenging holes for donations to benefit their team. One student, Jane Kim, made a hole-in-one.

Snohomish Kiwanis elects leaders

The Kiwanis Club of Snohomish recently installed new and returning board members for 2016-17. Marie Auriol replaces Debbie Emge as president. Also serving are Chelsea Saunders, Kate Maloney, Todd Huotari, Brandon Simeon, Ken Hammond, Steve Dana, Rod Vroman, Linda Lewis, Jared Burns, Nancy Keith and Jeff Judy.
