EVERETT — Longtime Archbishop Murphy High School Principal Kristine Brynildsen-Smith announced Wednesday that she is leaving the school to take a job with the Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle.
She accepted Archbishop Alex J. Brunett’s invitation to serve as his special assistant for schools. In her new job, she will assist schools throughout the archdiocese. Her first assignment, which begins Oct. 5, is to serve as the interim principal of St. Paul School in Seattle.
Brynildsen-Smith has been principal at Archbishop Murphy High School for 17 years. She led it from its early days, when the school was known as Holy Cross High School and located on a grade-school campus in downtown Everett, to its current campus just northeast of Mill Creek.
School President Robert Graby plans to appoint an interim principal soon and begin a formal search for a permanent principal in the spring.
