ARLINGTON — A 20-acre fire burning between Arlington and Granite Falls is now 90 percent contained, fire officials said this afternoon.
None of the homes near the Deer Mountain Fire remains at risk, said Nancy Joseph, spokeswoman for the State Department of Natural Resources.
On Friday, the number of firefighters working the blaze likely will be reduced to about 20, along with fire management staff. As many as 90 firefighters had been battling the fire at its peak earlier in the week. The fire was discovered Sunday.
Crews are expected to continue to work the fire over the weekend, cleaning up hot spots, Joseph said.
