ARLINGTON — An Arlington man who was jailed last month for investigation of possession of child porn was back in jail Friday after detectives found more photos on the man’s cell phone.
The man, 31, allegedly took pictures of an ex-girlfriend’s daughter just after Christmas, according to a police affidavit filed Monday in Everett District Court.
The man denied taking the photos, police said.
Detectives were first tipped off about the man on Jan. 12 after his brother told police he’d seen child pornography on the man’s computer, records show.
Police searched the man’s room and found an envelope with sexually explicit photos of minors. They also seized the man’s computer and several CDs and DVDs.
Further investigation led to the man’s cell phone, which held many pornographic images of a girl no older than 5, detectives said.
After the man’s initial arrest on Jan. 22, he was released from the Snohomish County Jail. The man was re-booked on Friday for investigation of possession of child pornography, sexual exploitation of a minor and first-degree child molestation.
Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Coleen St. Clair said the man has a prior history of similar crimes committed while serving in the military. He faced court-martial proceedings and was discharged.
A judge on Monday ordered the man’s bail increased to $250,000.
