Snohomish: Council to discuss pot facilities
The Snohomish City Council is being asked if it should add a second six-month moratorium on pot dispensaries and marijuana gardens, or if city staff should start preparing legislation to regulate them.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 tonight, 1601 Ave. D.
The current moratorium expires on Jan. 14.
The council approved the moratorium as a response to a bill passed by the Legislature this spring that outlines a framework for how cities could deal with medical marijuana production and businesses.
Library to hold 6-day Winter Extravaganza

The event starts Dec. 19 with a workshop to build gingerbread houses.
The other dates are Dec. 20, 21, 27, 28 and 29. All activities will begin at 2 p.m.
The library is located at 311 Maple Ave.

Monroe: Two new councilmembers
New city council members Jason Gamble and Kevin Hanford will take the oath of office at today’s meeting, set for 7 p.m. at 806 W. Main St., Monroe
Gamble won the election for Position No. 6 against Bridgette Tuttle. Hanford won the two-year Council-At-Large position against Joel Phillips.
Because the positions have been filled by interim members, under state law the successful candidates take over immediately after the election has been certified.
