Everett: Help people pay their power bills
Snohomish County PUD customers and employees gave more than $110,000 last year to help people struggling to pay their utility bills. The contributions helped 1,100 customers in 2009.
People who want to help can use the card enclosed in utility bills or call customer service at 425-783-1000.
Hearing planned for mission expansion
The Everett Planning Commission plans a public hearing to consider rezoning property owned by the Everett Gospel Mission at 6:30 tonight in the eighth-floor hearing room, 2930 Wetmore Ave.
The mission would like to turn a home into an office at 222 52nd St. SE. Mission officials have said they would limit the house to office use only and retain the outside appearance of the home.

Your old cell phone can help save a life
Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County collects cell phones to give to victims of domestic violence. Even without a service agreement, cell phones can call 911. Broken phones or those without batteries will be recycled.
Phones can be dropped off at the nonprofit’s office at 1310 Pacific Ave., Suite 5, Everett. For other drop-box locations throughout the county, go to http://tinyurl.com/DVScellphones or call Julie Martin at 425-259-2827, ext. 13. The program is ongoing.
Lake Stevens: Class to strengthen families
The Lake Stevens Family Center and the Lake Stevens School District are offering a free class designed to strengthen family bonds.
Strengthening Families is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays from March 9 through April 27 at Cavelero Mid High School, 8220 24th St. SE. Youth ages 11 to 14 and parents are invited. The class helps families address issues between parents and young teens, according to the family center. Free dinner and child care are provided.

Sultan: Business roundtable scheduled
Retail business owners can learn how to better market their stores at a roundtable event hosted by Mayor Carolyn Eslick and the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The event will be at the Sultan Community Center, 319 Main St., from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Feb. 23.
Interested attendees should RSVP for the event, which has limited space.
