Snohomish: Council may forgo tax hike
The City Council will consider Tuesday night forgoing a 1 percent property tax increase for 2010. The increase would generate about $10,000 in revenue for the city, which is not enough to affect city services, officials said. The increase translates to about $16 on the average home, $317,000. The plan, suggested by Mayor Randy Hamlin, was characterized by several City Council members as a gesture of goodwill during tight economic times. The council will meet at 7 p.m. at the School Administration Center, George Gilbertson Boardroom, 1601 Ave. D.
