EDMONDS — Police are investigating an attempted abduction of two boys on July 15 near the former Woodway High School.
Two 12-year-old boys left the McDonald’s restaurant on Edmonds Way about 2:30 p.m. that Monday and were walking in the 23100 block of 102nd Place toward the high school campus when they were approached by a couple in a dark gray or silver Volvo sports utility vehicle.
One of the boys said the car drove up next to him and the female passenger asked where the boys lived. The boy said he told her that they lived at a distance. The woman suggested that the couple give the boys a ride home.
Then the male driver told the boys in a firm, demanding voice, “Get in the car.” The boys started running onto school property, jumping over a gate and a fence to get away. The car did not follow them.
The driver was described as a short, stocky white man in his 30s with short, dark-colored wavy hair styled with gel, and wearing a dark colored shirt. The passenger was described as a white woman, also in her 30s, with dark medium-length hair pulled back in a ponytail, and wearing a dress.
People with information that might help in this ongoing investigation are asked to call the Edmonds Police Department at 425-771-0200 and ask for Detective Trykar, who is handling the case.
Edmonds Police released information about the attempted abduction on Friday due to boys’ delays in the reporting the incident.
“We have not had any similar incidents like this in Edmonds recently,” Police Sgt. Mark Marsh said.
