SILVERDALE — The Kitsap County sheriff’s office says a baby girl was fatally injured while her parents were guests in military housing at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor at Silverdale.
Her father is a 20-year-old Bremerton man who is held for a possible murder charge. He is not a member of the military. He and the baby’s mother were guests of a military dependent over the weekend.
The sheriff’s office say the man shook the 3-month-old very hard and struck her in the forehead when he became frustrated with her crying. The mother was attending a function in Seattle at the time.
He eventually asked a neighborhood for help. The baby was taken to a Tacoma hospital where the sheriff’s office says she died Sunday of shaken baby syndrome.
