EVERETT – A 35-year-old man was critically injured when he was struck by a pickup at 7:30 a.m. today in the intersection of 4th Avenue W and 112th Street SW, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokesman Rich Niebusch said.
The man was riding his bicycle southbound on 4th Avenue W when he was hit by the pickup, driven by a 51-year-old Everett man. The bicyclist was thrown about 20 feet into the air and landed on the pavement. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and suffered serious head injuries, Niebusch said.
He was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The sheriff’s collision investigation unit is investigating the cause of the accident.
