Jake Ritland of Marysville asks: “After the widening of Smokey Point Boulevard from 116th Street NE to 136th Street NE, I have noticed some blue indicators located in the lane of travel northbound near the center turn lane. They are shaped like the normal white or yellow lane indicators and are spaced about 50 to 70 yards apart. What are they used for?”
Jesse Hannahs, the city’s traffic engineer, answers: “The blue raised pavement markers indicate the presence of a fire hydrant thus assisting the fire department in time of need.”
