Boats collide near Whidbey Island

POSSESSION SOUND – The Coast Guard responded to a boat collision off Whidbey Island this morning between a commercial fishing boat and a pleasure craft.

No one was hurt and there are no reports that the boats are taking on water, Petty Officer Kelly Parker said.

The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. near Possession Point, he said.

Snohomish and Island County sheriff’s offices sent marine units to help.
