BOTHELL — A $6.75 million grant from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board will help the city complete its Multiway Boulevard project, linking new development on the west side of Bothell Way with the historic core on the east.
The cash, combined with anticipated proceeds from the sale of downtown property, allow the city to proceed with the $14 million second phase.
Construction could begin in the spring and be complete in about 15 months.
The $25 million Multiway Boulevard project enhances Bothell Way from Highway 522 to NE 188th Street and aims to revitalize downtown. Phase I of the project added landscaped medians, a side access lane with parking, and sidewalk on the west side of Bothell Way, from NE 183rd Street to Reder Way.
That phase was recently awarded a Greenroads Bronze Rating for “exceptional mobility and environmental standards.”
