Democrat Darcy Burner announced Wednesday she’ll make another bid for Congress in 2012, this time targeting the seat U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee is giving up.
Burner, who lives near Carnation in east King County, lost in 2006 and 2008 to U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert, R-Wash., in the 8th Congressional District.
She expects when redistricting is complete later this year her home will be in the 1st Congressional District, which is served by Inslee and includes south Snohomish County. Inslee has decided to run for governor instead of seeking to retain his seat.
Burner, 40, is a former Microsoft manager and has worked since 2009 at ProgressiveCongress.org.
She is the seventh Democrat campaigning for what is widely expected to be an open seat.
The others are state Sen. Steve Hobbs of Lake Stevens, state Rep. Marko Liias of Edmonds, state Rep. Roger Goodman and former state lawmaker Laura Ruderman, both of Kirkland, Andrew Hughes of Seattle and Darshan Rauniyar of Bothell.
James Watkins is the lone Republican candidate to announce for the seat.
