EVERETT — A 2-year-old girl was in stable condition at an Everett hospital Sunday evening after she was found floating face down in an outdoor pool at a motel near the Everett Mall.
The child wandered away from her father just before noon, said Ed Oas, a battalion chief with the Everett Fire Department. She was quickly found floating in a pool at the Roadway Inn and Suites, 1602 SE Everett Mall Way. Bystanders administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation, he said.
"Shortly after that she was crying," Oas said.
Emergency crews were called out about noon and transported the girl to Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus. Oas said he didn’t know where the girl’s family lives or whether they were staying at the motel.
There is a chain-link fence around the pool, and speculation is that the toddler may have crawled onto the cover of the pool because a portion of the cover was pulled back, Oas said.
