EDMONDS — The city is seeking a successor to City Councilmember Kristiana Johnson.
Johnson died last week.
The application for the position 1 seat is open on the city website. Anyone is eligible who has lived in the city of Edmonds for at least one year and is registered to vote. Applications are due Aug. 17 at 4 p.m.
The City Council will vote to pick an appointee. The appointee will take an Oath of Office and be required to complete Open Public Meeting Act training within 90 days of appointment.
The term will expire after the election in November 2023. The appointee can campaign to maintain their seat.
Edmonds City Council has seven part-time, nonpartisan, at-large council positions. Council members are required to attend council and council committee meetings. The base salary is $1,416.66 a month.
