A single item on a meeting agenda reminded me of something new taking shape in downtown Everett.
The city has selected artist Susan Zoccola to design, create and install 11 sculptural light fixtures. Price tag: $110,000.
The city is transforming Hoyt Avenue into its Arts and Festival street with the new Schack Art Center as its centerpiece. To help create that feel, the city is commissioning artists to create bike racks and the sculptural lighting fixtures that double as art pieces mentioned above.
Herald arts writer Theresa Goffredo wrote about that effort — read it here. She also plans to write about the artists selected to work on the project.
