VERLOT — A 36-year old man fell to his death on Monday at Del Campo Peak in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
The man was climbing with a friend when he fell 40-to-50 feet down rocky terrain, a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office press release said. His climbing partner performed lifesaving measures but was unsuccessful.
Del Campo Peak, is a prominent summit at the west edge of the North Cascades at an elevation of 6,610 feet. It is located south of Barlow Pass along the Mountain Loop Highway.
The Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team and members of the Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue recovered the body, where it was airlifted to Taylor’s Landing. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will identify the man and determine cause and manner of death.
