LANGLEY — A Clinton woman was arrested this week in connection with a homicide in Bellingham.
The woman, 40, was being sought by detectives Thursday. She was found on a beach near Langley. She had slit her wrists and needed emergency medical attention, Bellingham police Lt. Rick Sucee said i
n a written statement Friday.
The Clinton woman was listed in satisfactory condition Friday afternoon at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a hospital spokeswoman said.
She is under investigation in connection with the fatal shooting of Kriston A. Dunya. Dunya was found dead in her Bellingham apartment on Tuesday.
Detectives on Thursday were on their way to serve a search warrant at the Clinton woman’s home when they received a voicemail from her. In the voicemail, she allegedly confessed and said she would be dead by the time they found her, Sucee said.
Island County sheriff’s deputies joined Bellingham police in the search, which led them to the Langley beach.
Investigators believe Dunya may have been killed over a custody battle over the slain woman’s son, Sucee said.
Her estranged husband reportedly was in a relationship with the Clinton woman. The husband was arrested on an unrelated traffic violation and booked into Whatcom County Jail, Sucee said. Police want to talk with him about Dunya’s death, but he was not arrested in connection with the case.
