EVERETT — Free drug abuse recovery resources and a ball game?
It’s the first “Spring into Recovery” event at Funko Field on May 2.
The day kicks off with a community resource fair from noon to 5 p.m. The fair will provide free dental care, haircuts, ID cards, transportation to a drug treatment clinic and more.
Snohomish County Recovery Coalition is hosting the event at 3900 Broadway. The coalition of more than 40 members and community partners launched in October as a local branch of the Washington Recovery Alliance.
With the motto “Bringing Recovery to the Surface,” the coalition advocates for county and state policies that help people overcome substance use disorder. The coalition also works with local recovery organizations to reduce barriers to services.
“We want this event to be inclusive,” said April Provost, coalition leader and community outreach coordinator for Ideal Option, “bringing together those that may need services, their loved ones, the service providers, public services, business owners, and residents from all walks of life.”
At 6:30 p.m., the AquaSox game opening ceremonies are set to start with a proclamation from Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers. Then, the Everett AquaSox will play the Hillsboro Hops.
General admission tickets to the game cost $12 and will be used to fund the event, according to the coalition. Any other donations will be used for future coalition activism and events. Event sponsors include the Everett Recovery Cafe, Evergreen Recovery and the county’s human services department.
Tickets to the game can be purchased here.
