MILL CREEK – Mike Todd, a longtime Mill Creek resident and community volunteer, has been appointed to the City Council on an interim basis.
Todd was chosen from a field of nine candidates. The spot was vacated when John “Jack” Start died in April.
Todd, a retired engineer and Stanford University graduate, has lived in Mill Creek since 1983.
He has served on the city’s Parks and Recreation Board and parks task force. He has been involved in local schools, having taught Junior Achievement classes for 12 years, and advises the Heatherwood Middle School robotics club.
In addition, Todd, 51, serves on the boards of the Silver Lake Youth Soccer Club and the North County Youth Soccer Association. He officiates at soccer matches.
In his application for the position, Todd cited long-term planning, programs and facilities that serve the population, and maintaining tight fiscal planning and controls as his three areas of interest.
He will be sworn in prior to the start of a June 7 study session and will serve through the remainder of the year. The position will appear on the ballot this fall. The winner in November will serve the remaining two years of Start’s term.
