New Girl Scout troops seek registrations

New Girl Scout troops for girls ages 5 to 17 are forming in Snohomish County.

Registration nights are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m.: Oct. 9 at Lakewood Elementary School, 17000 16th Dr. NE, Arlington; Oct. 16 at Stanwood Middle School, 9405 271st St. NW; Oct. 23 at Haller Middle School, 600 E. First St., Arlington; and Oct. 30 at Darrington Elementary School, 1075 Fir St.

Parents and other volunteers are needed to work with the new troops. No experience is necessary and all training is provided.

Kiwanis auction helps youth programs

The annual Silver Lake Kiwanis auction is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Symphony rehearsal hall, 2710 Colby Ave., Everett. Tickets are $60 each at the door. Auction items include lodging in Hawaii.

The club is raising money for programs that benefit children.

Jetty Island day needs volunteers

Volunteers are needed for a People for Puget Sound’s restoration planting day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on Jetty Island.

Arrive before 10 a.m. at the 10th Street dock, west of Marine View Drive along the waterfront in Everett. A park ranger plans to ferry volunteers to and from the island on his boat.

Tools, snacks and water provided. Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy footwear and bring rain gear and a lunch. Kids under age 12 are welcome with adult supervision.

Jaycee’s haunted house needs actors

Are you a Halloween fanatic who looks forward to the haunting season all year long?

The Everett Jaycees club is looking for actors or haunt enthusiasts age 16 and older to help the club “scare the wits out of Snohomish County residents” at the Everett Jaycees Haunted Forest, Oct. 22-31 at Forest Park, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd., Everett.

The club is looking for serious participants who can commit to working evenings and weekends, including Halloween night. The club provides snacks and prizes for volunteers.

Birth classes offered at Providence Everett

Providence Everett Medical Center offers a variety of birth and family education classes in October.

These include childbirth preparation, skills for labor, feeding your baby, newborn care and infant safety.

Senior center auction benefits programs

East County Senior Center’s annual fundraising gala auction is set for 5 p.m. Oct. 27 at Echo Falls Golf and Country Club.

Among the items to be auctioned are an African safari, trap shooting lessons and golf opportunities.

The senior center provides services and programs to 900 members.

Concert benefits music students

The Michael Stegner Trio plays jazz and more for a Snohomish County Music Teachers Association fundraising concert scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave., Everett.

Tickets, $15 and $10, are available at the door. Funds raised benefit about 1,000 music students in Snohomish County and go to concert hall rentals, piano tuning, competition costs, master classes and scholarships.
