Cottage Grove couple identified in apparent murder-suicide

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. — Lane County sheriff’s officials have identified the victims of an apparent murder-suicide that took place near Cottage Grove on Christmas Eve.

The Register-Guard reports that 65-year-old Edda “Sue” Kimberling was killed by a single gunshot wound and 70-year-old Kenneth Kimberling died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Detective Carl Wilkerson says an initial investigation suggests Kenneth Kimberling killed Sue Kimberling before shooting himself.

Wilkerson says the investigation is ongoing.
