Here’s a roundup of some of the more interesting recent neighborhood crime news from throughout Snohomish and Island counties, provided by police:

Arlington

* 19100 block of 63rd Avenue NE, Oct. 31. A man said he had been chased by another man holding what appeared to be a gun and then broke into a business to get help and cut his hands. The business owner didn’t want to press charges and only wanted restitution for the broken window, police said.

* 3500 block of 183rd Place NE, Oct. 30. Police reported a man who is a convicted felon was found illegally possessing a firearm and a pair of brass knuckles.

* 300 block of S. Stillaguamish Avenue, NE. Oct. 29. An employee was accused of stealing five syringes filled with the pain-reliever Demerol at Cascade Valley Hospital. Police said hospital administrators did not want to press charges, preferring to deal with the situation internally.

* 3300 block of 169th Place NE, Oct. 27. A man was accused of attempting to steal a chain saw from a hardware store. He reportedly dropped the saw and ran off into the woods.

* 3700 block of 172nd Street NE, Oct. 21. A gumball machine worth $1,000 was reported stolen from a pharmacy.

* 200 block of N. Washington Avenue, Oct. 23. A man was arrested for assault when he reportedly showed up with a gun at a home where his wife was having a baby shower. He allegedly threatened to shoot everyone there, including his wife, police said.

Oak Harbor

* SW 10th Avenue, Nov. 5. A man reported that somebody was tapping his phone line.

* SW 10th Avenue, Nov. 5. A dispute involving neighbors and accusations of a stolen dog.

* Highway 20 and NE Seventh Avenue, Nov. 5. A caller complained to police that about 20 teenagers were gathered holding up a white sign that said, “burn out,” asking cars to squeal their tires. The caller wanted them dispersed because of the noise.

Stanwood

* 7200 block of 265th Street NW, Nov. 4. A parent reported a group of high school kids have been bullying and assaulting middle school kids at a bus stop.

* 7500 block of 267th Street NW, Nov. 3. A granite bench had apparently been picked up and thrown down, breaking it.

* 6900 block of 265th Street NW, Nov. 2. Stereo equipment and a movie prop gun were reported stolen from a vehicle.

* 26900 block of 104th Drive NW, Nov. 2. A 16-year-old boy was accused of attempting to purchase items with a counterfeit bill.
