Here’s a roundup of some of the more interesting recent neighborhood crime news from throughout Snohomish and Island counties, provided by police:

Everett

* 1300 block of 100th Place SE, Nov. 5. Police returned a 2-year-old boy to his father after the toddler wandered away from home. A resident at Trailside Apartments found the boy in the parking lot. The toddler was wearing a T-shirt, pants and adult sandals. The toddler told police his mom wasn’t home but a scary man was in his apartment. Officers found the boy’s home and returned him to his father, who explained that the toddler was going through a “scary monster” stage and had learned to unlock the door.

* 10100 block of Evergreen Way, Nov. 6. The owner of Vale’s Cleaner told police someone damaged the windowpane of the business, causing about $500 in damage.

* 1300 block of Maryland Avenue, Nov. 7. A man told police he returned home from vacation and found the backyard gate open, the security light loosened and his power washer missing. The washer is valued at $300.

* 2400 block of 38th Street SE, Nov. 8. Windshield wiper arms were reportedly swiped from nine company vehicles at Cascade Wholesale. Two oil dipsticks also were reported missing. The damage was estimated at $1,040.

* 2600 block of Broadway, Nov. 8. A Marysville man was allegedly caught shoplifting two cans of beer from QFC. When employees brought him back into the store he reportedly threatened them with a knife. He ran from the store but was later caught and arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

* 2600 block of Walnut Street, Nov. 9. A clerk reported that five cans of beer were shoplifted from a Shell gas station. One man asked the clerk for a cigarette while the other reportedly took six cans of beer from a cooler. The man handed off a can of beer to his friend and ran from the store. The second man paid for the cigarette and one can of beer and left. Police were unable to locate the suspects.

* 3100 block of Hewitt Avenue, Nov. 9. Two men were cited after allegedly trespassing at McCabe’s. Security officers reportedly escorted the men off the property but one man came back. When an officer arrested the man for trespassing, the other man allegedly interfered. The men were released to Naval security.

* 2900 block of Broadway, Nov. 10. A guitar and stand were reportedly stolen from the front window display while the owner was inside the business. The man told police he heard the front window break and saw a suspect drive off. A Martin guitar valued at $4,126 and stand worth $50 were missing.
