SEATLE – Hundreds of people are sitting down for lunch today to listen to Michelle Obama and help fund Gov. Chris Gregoire’s re-election campaign.
Former Snohomish County Clerk Pam Daniels, Prosecuting Attorney Janice Ellis and her husband, pediatrician Ron Dick, met Obama at a pre-event reception.
“She’s very warm, very genuine,” Daniels said. “She’s taller than i thought she would be but you have to understand that I’m just 5-2. She’s very statuesque.
Organizers say 1,600 people are expected inside the Washington Mutual Theater at Qwest Field where Obama, wife of Sen. Barack Obama, the presumed Democratic nominee for president, is the featured guest.
Security is tight as the event that is a fundraiser for Gregoire but looks and feels much like a rally for the presidential candidate.
Tickets range in cost from $200 to $3,200 apiece.
