EVERETT — Police on Friday night were investigating the discovery of a newborn baby found in a garbage bin at a south Everett apartment complex.
A passerby called 911 at about 8:20 p.m. after hearing crying from inside the dumpster, Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell said.
Officers converged on the Mirabella Apartments in the 800 block of 112th Street SE and found a newborn boy. He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and is expected to survive, Snell said.
The case was being investigated by major crimes detectives, who were collecting evidence on Friday night and interviewing potential witnesses.
“There is no indication when or why the newborn was left in the dumpster,” Snell said.
Anyone with information was urged to call 911 or the department’s tip line at 425-257-8450.
