EVERETT — The first Dick’s Drive-In in Everett will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Thursday — officially kicking off four days of festivities at the burger chain’s newest location at 1629 Center Road.
The Seattle-based fast food chain, beloved by many in the Puget Sound, will serve its first burgers and fries at 10 a.m Thursday. It is Dick’s second location in Snohomish County and the 10th overall.
Highlights of Thursday’s events, which start at 9 a.m and go to 8 p.m., include four bands: the Mariner High School Marching Band from Mukilteo, the NW Junior Pipe Band from Edmonds, the Kamiak High School Jazz Band from Mukilteo and the Jackson High School Drum Line from Mill Creek.
Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin, Everett City Council member Paula Rhyne, Snohomish County Council member Megan Dunn, and members of the Everett Police Department are some of the dignitaries expected to be in attendance.
Friday will include an Elvis impersonator from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. On Saturday, a Grand Opening Music Festival will feature six local bands and run from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The bands are Quarter Past 8, Mike Wayock, Groove Kitchen, Tropics Duo, Goldy and Foss, and Dry Goods.
On Sunday, the first 500 fathers will receive a Father’s Day Frisbee.
“We’re delighted to be serving delicious burgers, fries, shakes and memories in Everett,” says Jasmine Donovan, CEO of Dick’s Drive-In and granddaughter of its co-founder and namesake, Dick Spady. “Since we opened our location in Edmonds in 2011, we have been looking for the next right location further north; we found it and I couldn’t be more excited to open to the public on June 12th.”
Dick’s has kept its menu to burgers, fries, shakes and soda pop throughout the years, making only rare changes such as adding a quarter-pound burger or a Diet Coke to its offerings.
