TOLEDO — A southwest Washington school district will pay $140,000 in a separation agreement with an elementary school principal who figured in the investigation of his wife’s 1998 death.
The Chronicle of Centralia reported that the Toledo School District payments to Ron Reynolds will be spread over three years. He will resign effective Aug. 31. The agreement was announced Thursday night.
A coroner’s inquest jury said last fall that Ronda Reynolds, a former state trooper, died in a homicide, not a suicide as initially believed. The jury also determined that Ron Reynolds and his son, Jonathan Reynolds, were responsible.
The men called a news conference last November to declare they were not responsible for the death.
The district had placed Ron Reynolds on paid administrative leave after the inquest jury returned its findings.
Lewis County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer said there was insufficient evidence to charge the men.
