An employee of a Lynnwood Planned Parenthood found a doll swaddled in a black garbage bag near the clinic’s front door Monday morning.
There was no note attached to the doll, Lynnwood Police Department spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.
The doll was wrapped in the garbage bag just like a real baby would be wrapped in a blanket, she said.
“It was just sitting there,” she said. “We take these things seriously no matter where it is, but because it is a Planned Parenthood, there is a heightened awareness.”
The Planned Parenthood employee called 911 about 8 a.m., and police responded with a bomb squad, Sessions said. A robot designed to dismantle bombs was deployed, but nothing dangerous was found on the doll, she said.
The situation posed no threat to the clinic or anyone around the clinic, Sessions said.
The entire incident occurred in the clinic’s parking lot in the 7600 block of 196th Street SW, she said. Traffic was not disrupted, and the clinic was open again by 10 a.m.
