BREMERTON — Police say a suspected drunken driver fleeing from an officer at high speed died when he crashed into the side of a church in Bremerton.
The chase about 2 a.m. Friday lasted only a minute before the car hit the Iglesia Ni Cristo Church.
The driver died at the scene. He’s identified by the Washington State Patrol as 44-year-old Hugh Melvin Washington of Mesa.
The crash also caused significant damage to the church.
