EVERETT – Everett police are investigating the suspicious deaths of an elderly couple at a mobile home park in south Everett.
Someone called police about 9 a.m. to ask officers to check on the couple at a mobile home in the 600 block of 112th Street SE, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
Officers went inside to find the bodies of an 80-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman, Goetz said. Their identities were not immediately released. Detectives described the deaths as suspicious.
“We have no indication at this point of an outside influence,” Goetz said. “It’s still very early in the investigation.”
Many neighbors in the Lago De Plata mobile home park, a community for people over 55, were stunned by the deaths.
“Oh, my god,” Jim Levens said. “I can’t believe that.”
Although police couldn’t confirm the two people’s relationship, neighbors said a married couple has lived in the home for about the last 10 years.
They were remembered as kind, funny and friendly, neighbors said.
The man and woman were “both very, very quiet,” John Mather said.
The pair often kept to themselves, he said. Sometimes the man would bring by extra food, Mather said.
“They were very gracious people,” he said.
Many residents of the 248-unit community had called each other for updates on the news, he said. They wanted to find out why police vehicles were parked in front of the tan double-wide with the brown trim.
It is a community where neighbors often visit with each other while tending their yards, Mark Christopherson said.
Police were working in the home for most of the day, Goetz said.
He said there’s no immediate threat to the area.
“There isn’t a concern. The neighbors should not be concerned for their safety,” he said.
