EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene police say a man and his former girlfriend were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide when officers responded to a burglary call.
The Register-Guard reports that 43-year-old Athena Slavin and 44-year-old Jeffry March were found dead Tuesday. Slavin was found in the home and March’s body was found near a pond in a filed within a half-mile of the residence.
Police say they believe March killed Slavin, then left the home and killed himself.
Police Lt. Jennifer Bills says there is no risk to the public.
A small black-and-white dog named Monkey was retrieved from Slavin’s home and taken to a neighbor’s house.
