For a year, Everett has cajoled property owners downtown to comply with a new ordinance that requires them to dress up empty, street-level spaces with giant posters, artwork and the like.
Some of the owners haven’t gotten around to completing their honey-do list. Guess who is one of them? Yep, the city.
The north side of City Hall, located in the Wall Street Building at 2930 Wetmore Ave., is vacant on the street level. I don’t see any giant historical photos or artwork, do you? Salt-of-the-earth Public Works Director Dave Davis pointed out this irony during a presentation to the City Council last week.
