EVERETT — Eight people were displaced after an Everett apartment caught fire Wednesday night.
Around 10:45 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of a medical incident at the Northern View Apartments at 717 Hawthorne Street, according to the Everett Fire Department.
Crews discovered an active fire in a second-floor apartment, according to the department.
Firefighters rescued a man inside a bedroom in an apartment above the fire. The room was engulfed in smoke and catching fire, the department wrote in a press release. The man was not injured.
Firefighters also rescued a dog trapped inside the second-floor apartment on fire, authorities said. The dog was also unharmed.
After about an hour, firefighters fully extinguished the flames. At least three apartments sustained fire, smoke and water damage, while two other apartments were evaluated for damage, according to the department.
The Red Cross assisted the seven adults and one child displaced by the fire.
The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause of the fire.
