EVERETT — Fire investigators said they haven’t been able to pinpoint what sparked the blaze at a house, forcing the closure of nearby Lowell Elementary School on Thursday.
The homeowner discovered the blaze about 4 a.m. in his kitchen in the 5000 block of View Drive, Everett police Sgt. John DeRousse said.
The man tried to extinguish the fire but the smoke was too heavy and he was forced to flee.
Smoke filled the nearby school and officials cancelled classes Thursday.
Investigator said the source of the fire is “undetermined,” DeRousse said.
