EVERETT — Everett police and Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies assisted the Washington State Patrol on Sunday in apprehending a man who was driving a suspected stolen car and ran from officers after he drove the car into a ditch.
A State Patrol sergeant spotted a car on I-5 exiting onto Highway 527 about 4:45 p.m. The driver briefly lost control of the car, hit a road sign and continued driving, according to State Patrol trooper Keith Leary. Moments later, the driver lost control again and the car rolled into a ditch, he said.
The driver got out of the car and began running from the State Patrol sergeant who had stopped the car, Leary said.
Sheriff’s deputies and Everett police using tracking dogs followed the suspect. A citizen helped guide officers to the man’s location; he was captured in the 2200 block of Merchant Way.
The 23-year-old Everett man was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude a police officer and possession of stolen property, Leary said.
