EVERETT — Police arrested two men suspected of breaking into a home in south Everett and leading officers on a lengthy chase Friday afternoon.
A man was standing outside his house in the 7700 block of Grant Drive around 1:45 p.m. The two suspects walked up and reportedly assaulted him before driving off, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.
They hopped on Broadway, took out a row of mailboxes and reportedly struck a car near the intersection with Spokane Drive, Snell said. They continued on to Highway 526 and exited at Evergreen Way.
After spotting police cars, they pushed on through an intersection, striking another car in the process, Snell said. Shortly after, the suspects crashed their vehicle into a fence and ran.
The search was a team effort between officers, the community and police dogs. Evergreen Middle School was on lockdown until the two men were in custody.
Everett police are investigating what led up to the assault.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office also is looking for two men who broke into another home in south Everett on Wednesday. It is unclear whether the two men arrested Friday are connected.
