EVERETT — Everett Transit workers are set to partner with local volunteers as part of an annual tradition to provide food and gifts to families in need for the holidays.
Members of Everett Transit’s union, the Amalgamated Trasnit Union Local 883, will work with Volunteers of America Western Washington to collect food, toys and other essential items as part of the annual “Stuff a Bus” campaign, the city announced in a release Wednesday.
For three weekends in November and December, volunteers will collect donations outside of a Fred Meyer at 12906 Bothell-Everett highway in south Everett. Donations including toys, food, clothing and electronics will be accepted.
“Stuff a Bus is a great vehicle for bringing holiday cheer to the people of Everett,” wrote Steve Oss, the president of Everett Transit’s union, in a press release. “It’s also a wonderful opportunity for our community to get into the spirit of giving.”
In 2024, the Stuff a Bus drive collected over 9,000 pounds of food and over 3,000 gifts, valued at about $33,000. Donations will be distributed by Volutneers of America to local families.
“Each year, hundreds of local families experience holiday joy thanks to the generosity of our community,” wrote Brian Smith, the CEO of Volunteers of America Western Washington, in a press release. “I’d like to thank our Snohomish County neighbors and Everett Transit for having VOAWW be a part of this amazing event each year.”
Donations can be made from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 29 and 30, as well as Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 12906 Bothell-Everett Highway.
