Fairchild AFB instructor accused of rape

SPOKANE — Spokane County prosecutors have filed additional rape charges against a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in an interrogation room at Fairchild Air Force Base.

The Spokesman-Review reports 32-year-old Michael W. Fassbender is a civilian contract instructor at Fairchild’s survival school. He’s accused of taking a woman there in October on a date to show her torture devices. His lawyer says Fassbender denies the allegations.

Fassbender was arrested Oct. 20 on one rape charge and bailed out of jail the next day. On Thursday, prosecutors amended charges to three counts of rape and one count of assault.

Court documents says Fassbender choked the woman into unconsciousness during the assaults.
