ARILINGTON – The family of a missing Arlington man is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information about the man’s whereabouts.
George R. Fries, 55, was last heard from on Feb. 14. Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives have been looking for him since Feb. 28. Fries suffers from mental illness, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. Detectives believe Fries may have stopped taking medication.
Foul play is not suspected in his disappearance, she said.
Fries is described as white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 155 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call Snohomish County Sheriff’s detective Scott Wells at 425-388-3849.
State legislators paid tribute Friday to Jack Metcalf, the former state legislator and congressman from Whidbey Island who died Thursday.
Metcalf, who was 79, served 24 years in the state Legislature and six years in Congress, retiring in 2001.
Reps. Chris Strow, R-Freeland; Kirk Pearson, R-Monroe; Brian Sullivan, D-Mukilteo; and Mike Sells, D-Everett, each spoke.
“It was Jack’s prime directive to watch out for the little people,” Sells said.
Pearson, like Strow, worked for Metcalf while the latter served in Congress.
“He was a common man, but he was a lot more,” Pearson said. “He was a great man.”
