LOWELL, Ore. — Lane County sheriff’s officers say a gunman fatally shot another man Wednesday night at a church in the small Oregon town of Lowell.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Fred Swank says a man was arrested several hours after the shooting about three miles from the church.
KVAL says the shooting took place at the Lowell-area Kingdom Hall, a place of worship for Jehovah’s Witnesses.
A sheriff’s dispatcher confirmed the victim was a man and said no one else was injured.
Neither the victim nor the arrested man was immediately identified.
Swank says there were witnesses but he refused to discuss what was happening at the church when the man was killed or how many people were present.
Lowell is located southeast of Eugene.
