COUPEVILLE — The state ferry Chetzemoka is scheduled to be back on the run from Port Townsend to Keystone at noon Friday after being pulled from service earlier this week for repairs.
The ferry went into drydock Tuesday in Anacortes so a new keel cooler could be installed.
The repairs were completed Wednesday and the ferry sailed to Port Townsend on Thursday, in time for the weekend’s heavy traffic.
On Aug. 9, the Chetzemoka was taken out of service for a day due to a leaking keel cooler, which is a component attached to the vessel’s hull that helps keep its engines cool.
Ferry officials are in the process of investigating what caused the keel cooler to develop a leak and should have more information in September, a ferry system spokeswoman said
