SEATTLE — A smoky accidental fire at the building that formerly housed one of Seattle’s most notorious strip clubs has caused $650,000 damage.
Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore said the Thursday night blaze at the former Rick’s Nightclub likely started with electrical wiring in the ceiling. No one was inside and no one was injured.
Workers were inside earlier in the day doing electrical work and painting.
Rick’s was seized by federal agents as part of a racketeering investigation into the late Frank Colacurcio Sr. The building was auctioned off last month for $2.35 million.
The Seattle Times said it was scheduled to reopen Aug. 5 as DreamGirls at Ricks. Moore says the new owners say they have insurance.
