SNOHOMISH — The local fire district is looking to sell nearly 5 acres of land.
Snohomish County Fire District 4 in Snohomish has owned the property along Old Snohomish Monroe Road for more than a decade, Chief Ron Simmons said.
The original plan was to build a station there, perhaps one that could be shared with crews from Fire District 3 in Monroe. Yet projected development in that area hasn’t happened, and the emergency call load wouldn’t support a new station, Simmons said.
“The outlook is pretty grim as far as building a fire station there,” he said.
The undeveloped 4.8-acre plot has never been assigned a street address. It falls between the 12600 and 12700 addresses on Old Snohomish Monroe Road, the chief said.
The district approached neighbors who own adjacent properties, and at least one has expressed interest in making an offer, Simmons said. The 2015 assessed value for the land is $156,000.
