The Mukilteo Schools Foundation awarded 44 grants totaling $20,407 to help Mukilteo teachers pay for classroom projects aimed at improving student achievement. The grants, of up to $500, are awarded each year using money the foundation raises through corporate and individual donations, primarily an annual fundraising breakfast on Veterans Day.
Teachers in 18 schools and programs received grants this year. Examples of programs and materials receiving money include an African drumming program, books that appeal to boys, breakfast events that encourage math or reading skills, and a fashion show by design students.
