Meet firefighters in Lynnwood

South County Fire is hosting an open house Thursday evening at its station in the Keeler’s Corner area of unincorporated Lynnwood. Drop by any time from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Fire Station No. 10 at 5922 156th St. SW.

The event focuses on community safety. It also gives people the chance to talk to firefighters, medics and the fire chief, as well as their neighbors.

Gun violence prevention vigil in Mukilteo

A local group of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America will host a Wear Orange Luminaria Community Vigil starting at 8 p.m. Friday at the Mukilteo Lighthouse. The event is part of a national Wear Orange Weekend aimed at preventing gun violence. A Wear Orange Rally and I-90 Bridge Walk is also planned, starting at 10 a.m. Sunday in Sam Smith Park, 1400 Martin Luther King Jr. Way S., Seattle.

Documentary about Tulalip Tribes elder

Join the Everett Public Library in watching a new documentary about the life of Harriette Shelton Dover, an elder of the Tulalip Tribes who died in 1991. She was a member of the Snohomish Tribe and was known as a leader who preserved history though song, dance and language.

The film will be presented by the Hibulb Cultural Center and Northwest Room staff at 6 p.m. Tuesday, in the library’s main auditorium, at 2702 Hoyt Ave.

Wallace Falls: Washington State Parks invites the public to participate in the fourth and final phase of long-term recreation planning for Wallace Falls State Park at a public meeting scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. June 19.

Park planners will present preliminary recommendations at the Sky Valley Event Center, 14315 366th Ave. SE, Sultan.The local community and park visitors are encouraged to attend or provide comments online until July 12 at bit.ly/WallacePlan.

Wallace Falls State Park covers nearly 1,400 acres near the towns of Index and Gold Bar. Meetings to chart the park’s future have been ongoing since late 2017. Key issues include a lack of parking and integrating the state park with adjacent public forests.

Sky Valley Recreation: A regular meeting to discuss developing and managing outdoor recreation in eastern Snohomish County is set for 10 a.m. Friday at the Sultan City Hall community meeting room on 319 Main St. Likely updates include Reiter Foothills recreation trails, ATV access and other activities along the U.S. 2 corridor.
