Bake sale helps kids
Help raise money to feed hungry kids by attending the Great American Bake Sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the new Everett Elks lodge at the corner of California Street and Hoyt Avenue. Money from the bake sale goes to the YWCA of Snohomish County. The Elks welcome donations of baked goods and money.
Donate cookbooks or baked goods before 11 a.m. at the lodge, 2802 Hoyt Ave., Everett.
Chicken dinner at senior center on Sunday: Dine from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd.
Cost is $8; $7 for seniors and $5 for children younger than 12.
The menu includes coleslaw, baked chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetables and dessert.
Entertainment is by Gary Lee Hood.
The dinner is a monthly event.
Cancer walk Sunday: The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk begins at 10 a.m. Sunday at Legion Memorial Park in Everett.
Marian Krell, an Everett city councilwoman who died in August, will be honored by the Walk for Marian team.
Team captain Deb Williams said Krell was excited that the city would put together a team to walk in her honor.
“It was the last thing she began to organize,” Williams said.
