Rock the Church on Saturday

Rock the Church Northwest is set for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Willis D. Tucker Community Park, 6705 Puget Park Drive, Snohomish. The event celebrates the art of worship and all who participate, including those who don’t fit into a typical church “worship plan.”

Entry is free. There also are $12 tickets that come with reserved seating and lunch.

Learn to declutter

Hope Within Luncheon

Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County is hosting its 12th annual Hope Within Luncheon on Oct. 5. Victor Rivas Rivers, an actor and author, is expected to speak about his experience escaping family violence. Tickets are $20 per person or $200 for a table of 10. The event is scheduled for noon to 1:30 p.m. at Xfinity Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave.

Blood drive donations

A blood drive is scheduled for noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Avenue. A donation bus will be parked in front of the building. People are asked to eat and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating blood, and to bring a picture ID.

Volunteer with Lynnwood police

The Lynnwood Police Department is seeking applicants for its Citizens Patrol. The volunteers in the patrol provide support services to police and neighbors. Applications are due by Sept. 29. Expect a background check.

New Everett library director

The Everett Public Library has announced the hiring of a director, Abigail “Abby” Cooley. She is set to start in November. Longtime library director Eileen Simmons is retiring.

Cooley currently works in the Baltimore County library system.

New map explores Lynnwood

A new interactive map helps people explore and discover Lynnwood. The free website highlights the city’s history, art and current events. “DiscoverLynnwood” is made possible in part by assistance from the Snohomish County Community Heritage Program.

Quilting club time change

Starting in September, the All in Stitches Guild will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Meetings are held first Tuesdays at the Marysville School District Transportation Center.
