Learn the roles pollinators play in the home garden and how to attract beneficial insects, like bees and ladybugs, at “The Power of Home Gardeners in the Pollinator Crisis,” 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N East Camano Drive, Camano Island.

Peace observance on Camano

Local artist and activist Don Koffman leads a celebration marking International Day of Peace on Thursday. The local celebration starts at noon at Freedom Park, 500 E North Camano Drive, Camano Island. A “Flag of Peace and Freedom” designed by Koffman will fly for the occasion.

“The simple message of the Flag of Peace and Freedom is that we all live under the same sky, we are all warmed by the same sun and we share the responsibility to keep our planet healthy for future generations,” Koffman writes.

Watercolor program for seniors

Elderwise Watercolor-Plus classes are held 2 to 3 p.m. on select Thursdays at the Center for Healthy Living, 4100 Alderwood Mall Blvd., Lynnwood. The next class is Thursday. The creative and supportive group is designed for people living with memory loss. Registration is required.

Learn CPR in Silvana

Snohomish County Fire District 19 in Silvana plans a CPR and first aid class for 9 a.m. Oct. 14. The class is free for district residents and $35 for others. Reserve a spot by calling or visiting Fire Station 94.

Learn about foster parenting

Fostering Together holds an information night for people interested in serving as foster parents, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 26 at Cedar Park Church, 16300 112th Ave. NE, Bothell.

Staff will go over what it takes to get licensed, who can foster and how else people can be involved. Representatives of Youthnet, Amara, Olive Crest and the Lynnwood DCFS office also will be on hand.

Free childcare is available. RSVP is requested.

Fostering Together stems from a Christian foster agency but describes itself as a neutral program that works with the state to increase the number of foster families.
